The first tractor Valmet (the former name of VALTRA) was manufactured
in 1951. The modest start was followed in the course of years
by the establishment of a brand, known all over the world:
the fifth largest tractor producer on the globe. The 60-ies
were the time of the active product development, and it was
in this period that a second VALTRA plant was built in Brazil.
The 80-ies faced the merger of the tractor production of VOLVO
BM and, integrating quality and innovation, the Scandinavian
market was conquered. In the 90-ies the producer of diesel
engines SISU DIESEL became a part of the group, too. This is
how VALTRA managed to run an entire in-house operation for
most of the important tractor units.
In 1993 VALTRA was the first world tractor producer to be awarded the Quality
Certificate ISO 9001. From 2000 until 2004 VALTRA introduced into production
five new tractor series – something that not every competitor of the Finnish
company can boast.
The high quality, power and individual approach to every customer are the characteristics
that made VALTRA the most intensively developing tractor company worldwide.
